You will not be required to pay a tuition fee for your course if you qualify for one of the categories outlined below.

Please note that in all cases your age will be taken on the date you start the course.

You are aged 19-23, you do not already have a full level 2 qualification and you are enrolling on either a full level 2 course or a course below level 2. Examples of full level 2 qualifications include five GCSEs at grade C or above, an NVQ Level 2 or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma. You will still be required to pay the exam and registration fee of £175 and any optional trip fee costs.

You are aged 19-23, you do not already have a full level 3 qualification and you are enrolling on a full level 3 course. Examples of full level 3 include two or more A Levels, an NVQ Level 3 or a BTEC Level 3 Diploma. You will still be required to pay the exam and registration fee of £175 and any optional trip fee costs.

You are aged 19 or over, you are enrolling on a GCSE English or maths and you do not already have a GCSE grade A* to C or 9 to 4 in this subject. (Please note that GCSE science does not qualify).

You are aged 19 or over, enrolling on a course below level 3 and you are in receipt of one of the following state benefits. You will still be required to pay the exam and registration fee of £175 and any optional trip fee costs.

  • Jobseeker’s Allowance (income or contribution based)
  • Employment and Support Allowance (Work Related Activity Group - WRAG)
  • Universal Credit AND placed in the Work-Related Requirements, Work Preparation or Work-Focused
  • Interview Group by Jobcentre Plus
  • Income Support (you must also be unemployed*)
  • Council Tax Benefit (you must also be unemployed*)
  • Housing Benefit (you must also be unemployed*)
  • Employment and Support Allowance (Non-WRAG) (you must also be unemployed, and may be classed as unemployed if you are employed and earn less than £330 per month)

You must provide proof of your benefit (dated within three months of your course start date) at enrolment. If you do not have recent documentation to confirm your benefit please complete the College “REM1” form and have it signed and stamped by Jobcentre Plus or your local Council Office. You must bring this to enrolment in order to enrol.

If you are aged 19 or over, enrolling on a level 3 course and you do not qualify for any of the categories outlined above, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
