Here at Ashford College we understand everyone has different needs and some students with disabilities, sensory impairment, learning differences, medical conditions and those recovering from mental health problems may need support to get the most out of college life.
Additional Learning Support at Ashford College is designed to remove obstacles to learning and ensure positive outcomes. We work closely with our learners to organise support and make reasonable adjustment. Our experienced and specialist teams offer a range of support, treating all students as individuals and enabling them to achieve their full potential and work towards independence.
The support we offer includes:
- Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and other specific learning difficulties
- Aspergers and Autistic Spectrum Condition
- Deaf & Hearing Impaired
- Visually impaired
- Emotional, Social and Behaviour Difficulties
- Physical and Mobility Difficulties
- Medical Conditions; epilepsy, ME
- Well Being and Mental Health
- Supported Learning
We encourage students to tell us about any disability or learning support need by completing the Meeting Individual Needs section on the College application form as early as possible.
If you have told us about a disability or support need, or that you have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC plan) you will be sent an ALS Questionnaire to complete. Once we have received this we will make an appointment for you to meet one of our team to talk about your individual requirements. With your agreement we will share your personal profile and support plan to curriculum staff working with you.
Support is available to students following Further Education and Higher Education courses.
