Open Curriculum

Introductory Programme in Education and Employment

This course, which includes maths, English and employability skills, is designed for students and young people who are uncertain about their career options or who have a negative view of school education.

Tailored to suit the individual needs, students will work on topics such as CV writing, job searching and making applications to help them increase their confidence and develop the skills they need to be ready for work. In addition, students will develop their interpersonal and social skills as well as their literacy, numeracy.

At the end of the course there is an option to continue your studies to build up the qualification, or progress on to a different qualification or apprenticeship within the college.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for Open Curriculum pathways.

You will have an informal interview in which we will look for commitment and explore your future aspirations and how the course can help you meet those aspirations.


Options for the future include vocational courses, apprenticeship courses or progression into employment.
