Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery

Enhance your potential as a chef.

Building on the Level 1 courses, this course will provide a broad range of knowledge, including:

• Investigating the catering and hospitality industry
• Food health and safety awareness
• Healthier foods and special diets
• Kitchen operations costing
• Menu planning

Functional skills or GCSE maths and English are a key part of this course. You will need to purchase equipment and clothing from an external supplier. All course costs will be discussed at interview.

A Level 3 VRQ/ NVQ or an Apprenticeship in a related subject area. You could also work in a post such as chef de partie in a kitchen.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D/3 or above, including English and maths or have achieved the college’s Level 1 Catering qualification.

You will need to attend a course suitability day as part of the interview process. We will also consider you if you have at least three years' relevant industry experience.
