Level 2 Diploma in Engineering & Technology

Focus on your performance in engineering using practical skills and knowledge.

You will study three core units where you will look at health and safety in the engineering environment, the mechanical engineering environment. There are also three optional units where you will concentrate on the individual disciplines of:

• Machining
• Engineering
• Maintenance

This course is made up of practical projects and classbased sessions that will prepare you for a career in engineering. There will be practical assessments and externally set examinations.

Supported work experience will be arranged with guidance from your tutor.

English and maths are an important part of the course, whether at functional skills or GCSE level.

Progress to a related Level 3 course, an Apprenticeship, or into employment.

Entry requirements

Academic achievement of four GCSEs grade 4 or C or above, with English and maths minimum grade 4 or C. Science is an advantage but not essential.

Students must have an interest in theory and practical work and be confident they want a career in the industry.
