On Thursday 29th November, 16 of our level 1 and level 2 Ashford Beauty Therapy students took part in the Ladies Night event at Dobbies Garden Centre, Ashford. The event, which ran from 4-9pm, was organised to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The Beauty department decided to offer three treatments: file, hand and arm massage and paint, 10-minute head and shoulder massage and a mini facial. All were priced at £5 each, with £3 going to the charity and £2 to the college to reimburse for the cost of products.
Fay Morgan-Hunter, Lecturer in Beauty, said: “It was the first time many of the students had worked on real clients and they worked professionally and represented the college to the highest standard.”
“As well as the students, I’d like to thank Lia Szomjas and Deborah Ashdown who provided their invaluable assistance during the evening.
“The students really enjoyed the event and are keen to attend more. They all learnt how to perform professionally and how to behave in front of clients. Everyone was exhausted at the end of the evening but felt exhilarated by the experience.”
A total of £440 was raised in the 4 hours of opening, with £260 going to the Teenage Cancer Trust and the remainder covering the cost of the products.
