We’re very pleased to announce that our new, state-of-the-art, 40-channel recording studio has now been installed at Ashford College.
Elwick Road Studios is for use by students studying our Music Technology courses. Designed and built to the highest specification in consultation with industry professionals, the facilities include a fantastic-sounding live room, booth and control room and leading-edge equipment, including a TL Audio Valve Technology Console, KRK Monitors, Neumann U87 condenser microphones and a wide range of hardware rack processor units.
Run by our highly experienced lecturers with years of industry experience and knowledge, this digital/analogue hybrid studio offers the perfect environment for our students to work creatively and learn recording techniques and post-production processes including audio editing, mixing and mastering.
Mark Rowden, studio manager and lecturer in Music Technology, said, “We’re thrilled that we now have this fantastic facility up and running. In educational terms, we are at the cutting-edge of what is being offered in college studios across the county. Our students get to work with the latest high-spec analogue and digital equipment, ensuring they are in line with industry trends when they enter employment.”
The studio, which boasts a large range of instruments, including a wide variety of high quality synths, guitars and amps and drum-kits, will be available for external hire to musicians, bands and artists later this year. The college offers a range of music technology courses, from one and two-year Diplomas in Music Performance & Production and a 12-week evening course in Audio Production, which is suitable for learners new to the subject and those already in the industry who wish to enhance and update their skills. All courses are underwritten by the University of the Arts London, a specialist examining body. UAL is one of the world’s top universities for the Arts, ranked 6th in the 2017 QS World University rankings by subject.
