Ashford’s Create Music Festival was given a welcome boost this year, with Ashford College back on board as a key supporter for the event’s 22nd year. Create 2017, funded and organised by Ashford Borough Council, took place at Victoria Park on Saturday 22nd July 2017 from 12 noon until 9pm.
The new state-of-the-art college, which welcomed its new intake of pupils this September, is heading up the roll call of festival partners after agreeing to support the Create Main Stage and DJ Area.
The Ashford College Main Stage boasted some of the regions’ best up-and-coming live music acts alongside the fantastic headline act, 2-Tone ska heroes The Selecter. The Ashford College DJ Stage provided a mix of local and regional acts, whilst also showcasing the technical ability and equipment within the College’s Music Tech courses.
Rob Forsyth, Team Leader in Art & Design and Music Tech, Ashford College, said: “We are delighted to once again have a significant presence at Create. It is important for us to meet with and be seen by the thousands of local people that attend Create, as well as give our music technology students a range of practical onsite festival experience.
“It is always a great feeling to watch the crowd enjoying the acts knowing that behind the scenes our students are developing their skills and networking with professionals in the industry.”
Cllr Jessamy Blanford, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure, said: “2017 is a landmark year for Ashford College, and we are pleased that Create will be able to play a valuable part in this.
“Ashford College has always offered so much by supporting our local arts and cultural scene, and we know something as big as Create can provide them with the perfect platform to enrich their courses, spark the imagination of students, and help kick-start their careers.”
